In 1916, the Mechelse Heide became the training ground of a German 'mine-warfare school.' During this walk, we visit the remnants left behind in the heath, such as trenches, bunkers, and mortar craters, along with a Ranger. The Ranger will tell you more about the purpose of this training camp and its impact on the lives of the local population.
