The gateways are the ideal start to your visit to the national park and offer something for everyone.

In the Mechelse Heide, nature speaks for itself: beautiful heather as far as the eye can see! Or perhaps you prefer to climb the mining stone mountains of Terhills to enjoy a breath-taking panorama? The national park has other gateways in addition to the gateways on Maasmechelen territory. Discovering other parts of the national park by entering via the other gateways is well worth it.

Gateways:

> Terhills

> Mechelse Heide

> Pietersheim

> Kattevennen

> As railway station

> Lieteberg

> Bergerven

> Thor Park

> Duinengordel

The tall trees, wide heathlands, and magnificent views of the national park will definitely make you want to slip into your hiking boots. You can choose from more than 80 hiking loops and, thanks to the trail junctions, you can easily create new combinations. You’ll have a hard time running out of things to do in this paradise. You don’t have to worry about FOMO here!

Cyclists and mountain bikers also get their money’s worth! You can easily put together a route yourself via the cycling route network. Mountain bikers can choose from more than 10 signposted loops, including three through Maasmechelen, with distances starting at 16 km for experienced mountain bikers and beginners.
