Anyone who has ever visited a village in the Maas region of Limburg (or lives there) knows that the rich history of the Maas Valley is still tangible in the many monuments and village-scapes. Starting this summer holiday, five of these Maas villages can be discovered via a new heritage hike in the Erfgoed app. It’s no coincidence that these are the five starting villages from which you can already discover the Maas Valley River Park: Oud-Rekem, Leut, Stokkem, Aldeneik, and Kessenich. All in all, these hikes shed light on over 42 Maasland monuments.
Kerkplein Leut, Genieskensstraat n/n, 3630 Maasmechelen.
There is plenty of free parking available.
How do you get started?
Download the FARO Erfgoed app from iTunes or the Google Play Store. You can do this at home beforehand or via the Wi-Fi network at the starting points. Ask a staff member of Visit Maasmechelen for the free Wi-Fi password.
Search within the app for ‘wandeling Leut’ (Leut hike). Only available in Dutch.
You are all set to go and immerse yourself in the rich history.
