The red loop through the Maas Valley River Park takes you on a brisk 14 km day trip where you get to know the various facets of the Maas Valley River Park. Cross the River Park and get a taste of the landscape of the High Kempen. Pass the beautiful Castle Vilain XIIII, named after its last owner. The charming hamlets of Mazenhoven and Vucht are connected by the nature reserves of Maesbempder Greend and Maaswinkel. On the way, hike past the last remaining Maas Cross along the Maas, one of the most beautiful picnic spots in Maasmechelen. It’s the perfect stop for a lunch break. Finally, you can learn about the history of mining in Eisden. Turn into the Kruinenpad from the Zuidwillemsvaart. The Kruinenpad runs between the treetops like a real air bridge in the mining collapse area. This fantastic experience does not disappoint. From the Kruinenpad, you have a fabulous view of the mining collapse area and its consequences, while enjoying a beautiful concert by the songbirds in the treetops. The Kruinenpad is 181 metres long and freely accessible every day from sunrise to sunset.
