The orange trail offers a wooded walk through the Mechels Bos to the old station of Eisden. The station of Eisden, the final stop of the Coal Line. The last coal train departed in 1987; passenger services had already been discontinued earlier. The wooden station building was completely destroyed by fire and later rebuilt as a tavern.
The old outbuildings of the station were also rebuilt and converted into hikers’ cabins.
You can also start this hiking loop from the Mechelse Heide Gateway.
