Tips for a relaxing day

If you prefer things a bit quieter, Maasmechelen has plenty to offer. How about a relaxing wellness day, sunbathing on the beach, catching a movie, or bowling with friends? Sound good? Experiencing this is even better!

Hoge Kempen National Park

Hoge Kempen National Park

The Hoge Kempen National Park is the only national park in Belgium. It is a unique nature reserve where more than 12,000 ha of natural beauty are managed and protected. Extensive pine forests alternate with purple heather and drifting dunes. Large lakes bear witness to gravel and sand extraction. High peaks offer grand vistas.

Centre

Centre

The centre of Maasmechelen is formed by the Joseph Smeetslaan, the Dokter Haubenlaan, and the Rijksweg. This is the central traffic artery between Maastricht and Maaseik, where you will find numerous shopping possibilities, activities, and cosy eateries and pubs.

Maas Valley River Park

Maas Valley River Park

The Maas is the lifeline of the Maas Valley River Park. It shapes the typical landscape and its bed is home to plants and animals that are found nowhere else. Countless waterbirds, butterflies, dragonflies, wild bees, and special flowers and herbs make their homes here. The Maas Valley River Park has some typical Maas villages in which time has stood still. Like a pearls strung along the string of the Maas, they all radiate authenticity. Go out and be enchanted by the sights while visiting these beautiful villages.
