A cycling route with flat lanes and some tough climbs through the Hoge Kempen National Park. Start at the Cosmodrome in the Kattevennen in Genk. Then immediately cycle into the national park with pine forests as a backdrop. These seamlessly blend into the heathlands of the Mechelse Heide in Maasmechelen. Riding the Cycling through Heathland route between junctions 550 and 551 gives you the best of the national park for very little effort. Continue on to Pietersheim and pass the castle and the medieval moated castle. Follow the towpath of the Zuid-Willemsvaart in the direction of the centre of Lanaken. Delve into the woods again after that. This cycling tour shows off the best of the national park.
