The only walk in the Hoge Kempen National Park that combines nature, the mining history, and a beer tasting.
The former mining site of Eisden (Maasmechelen) is now known as Terhills and is part of the Hoge Kempen National Park. The mine closed in the late ‘80s, leaving behind many fascinating remnants and stories. "Kompel" refers to the miner but also to the local beer that was created by 3 enthusiastic entrepreneurs from Eisden. A perfect combination for an interesting tour! The Ranger will tell you about the mining history during a short walk (but with a steep incline), ending at the National Park Visitor Center with a tasting of Kompel beers. The past, flavored by the Ranger, with a view of the headfram, bet that the Kompel will taste even better?
