“Here, the Meuse is pure nature.”
Here in Limburg, the Meuse stretches wide, with hardly any steep riverbanks. That means you always get to enjoy stunning views over the green river plains. It’s truly beautiful. Many visitors are surprised — they know the Meuse mainly as a river used for industry and shipping. But not here. No big ships on this part of the Meuse. Just nature at its finest.
“The Meuse offers the most beautiful spots in the Low Countries.”
That’s exactly why it’s so important to preserve this river. That’s also why we joined the Meuse Clean-Up Project — an initiative where everyone can help clear litter from the river. It's the perfect mix of adventure and giving back to nature.
When you book a trip with us for the Clean-Up Project, you don’t just get a kayak or raft and a paddle — you also get a large trash bag and a litter grabber.
During fall and winter, the water level is high and a lot of waste drifts in. In spring, the water level drops, leaving that waste behind — often in places hard to reach from land. But from the water? Perfectly accessible for kayakers and rafters.
The impact of the dropping water level was especially visible in 2021, the year of the floods. The Meuse was overflowing for days. And once the water calmed down, the damage became clear. What we found and cleaned up? You name it – dozens of gas canisters, debris... But with the help of friends and family of the Meuse, it all disappeared in no time.
Because of the kayak rentals, I never go on vacation during the high season – but I don’t need to. Right here, on the banks of the Meuse, every day feels like a holiday.
