The blue hiking loop through the Mechelse Heide in the national park takes you to the highest hiking point in the national park: a panorama point at 104 metres above sea level with magnificent views. Then continue to hike through the heathland. It’s in full bloom in August and September and you can enjoy a purple nature painting. But you can also enjoy the beauty and pure simplicity of nature in other seasons with a view of the former sand and gravel quarry. You will also pass the Ven under the Berg. This fen is almost completely overgrown with peat mosses. This peat moss carpet took tens of thousands of years to become what it is today.
